“Pull myself together. Put on a new face. Climb down off the hilltop, baby. Get back in the race.”

I heard through the facebook grapevine that Gregg Allman was in ill health a couple weeks before he passed away. I played Dreams on the jukebox at the Irish Pub in Atlantic City on the 26th of May, and Gregg was gone on the 27th.

I played Dreams again, the following week, at my friend Chris’s house, on the morning we departed on our four-day Habitat for Humanity charity ride, aka the Ride for Homes. The song subsequently churned through my head non-stop for the entire four days of the journey.

My photos of the trip are here, so you can see for yourself how fun and memorable this trip was—and all for a great cause. The song that was in my head the whole time earned the #4 spot on my countdown.
